My Honest Review of the Sunday Ryder S-Class Stand Bag

My Honest Review of the Sunday Ryder S-Class Stand Bag

After using the Ping Hoofer Lite stand bag for a couple of years, I was looking for something new to replace it. There’s nothing wrong with that bag and as I mentioned in my review, if I had to use that bag for the rest of my life, I would be perfectly happy with it. However there were a few things I was looking for in a replacement. I needed something that was still pretty light, was made of a durable material that was easy to clean/keep clean, and I really wanted someting that was a little bit less common. I saw that the Vessel Player was pretty popular but also pretty pricey and I wasn’t looking to spend that much. I watched a couple of video reviews of the Sunday Ryder on YouTube and saw they had a leather version of this bag so I became interested in that.

To help, I also found a 20% off coupon, so my total cost was $246.50 shipped to my door.

Some unique features:

  • Pretty cool strap system that auto-balances so the bag always feels pretty centered when you’re carrying it
  • Designated large insulated pocket for your drinks (more on that below)
  • Water-resistant leather material that they describe as vegan leather. I don’t know what exactly it’s made of, but I can tell you that it is both durable and pretty easy to clean as stains/dirt is easy to wipe off
  • There’s a smell-proof pocket that I think is meant to put your glove in, but I prefer the velcro attachment
  • Velour-lined valuables pocket, so you don’t have to worry about scratching your watch or other valuables
  • Removable ball pocket cover so you can get embroidered if you want
  • Lifetime warranty!

What I like about this bag is that it really does feel pretty high quality both in terms of the material and construction. There’s some pretty nice attention to detail, such as a pad that the legs hit when you unfold them, so that it doesn’t wear on the bag itself. I also think it looks really good and I have received compliments on it. It has 5 full-length dividers and I personally only carry 11-12 clubs, so I’ve never had an issue with clubs getting bound up. Also the fact that it has a lifetime warray is pretty awesome, because the last thing I wanted to was to buy a product from a company for the first time only to have it break down after just a short while. The fact they stand behind it for life is pretty cool.

The bag definitely isn’t perfect though.

  • For one, there is an apparel pocket that actually is a full length pocket, but the zipper only goes halfway up. This means if you want to store larger items, you have to reach up into the pocket and try to stuff it in there. I use my full length pocket to store my shoes and found this slightly annoying because I have to put one shoe in at a time. If I wanted to add more stuff into it, it would just add to the time and annoyance. This is by far my biggest grip with this bag.
  • I also found a couple of pockets to be pretty unusable. For example, there’s a small “smell-proof” pocket which I guess is meant to keep your sweaty gloves in but there’s also a velcro glove attachment that I prefer. Plus this pocket is so small that I’m not sure what else you can fit in here. Ball markers and divot tools maybe?
  • The insulated beverage pocket is also really cool but also way larger than it really needs to be. I don’t believe it is designed to hold ice, so it’s really meant to store several cans of drinks and keep them cold. The problem is it’s quite large and in the middle of the bag so you don’t drink on the course, you will either end up not using it at all or using it for someting else.
  • Because of the mentioned beverage pocket being where it is, the valuables pouch is way up near the cart strap pass-through, which makes it pretty inconvenient to access if you have your bag strapped onto a cart or if you’re using a push cart.
  • I would prefer to have a magnetized valuables pocket in the middle of the bag.
  • The loop that is designed to hold your towel and other attachments is made of a canvas type material, but I wish it was metal or even a hard plastic. I don’t know how it will hold up over time but there’s a lifetime warranty so I guess I can’t really complain much
  • I noticed after a few months now that when I am carrying the bag and walking, one of the legs kind of bounces up and down and sags as I’m walking. Not a huge deal but kind of annoying

Overall there is a cool factor with this bag and I’m a fan. It looks really quality and I think the goal of Sunday Golf is to make bags that are fun and functional but maybe not the most practical. I’m still really happy with the purchase and I am enjoying this bag.

Overall, I give it a solid 8/10 and recommend this if you are looking for a cool stand bag that won’t break the bank.
